Wisdom from Grey's Anatomy

Grey's Anatomy. I am continually asking myself why I watch this show. Somehow, the characters have captured me, even though I dislike most of them. Anyways, as Erin and I watched last week's episode, Meredith Grey, the lead character of the show, was narrating a scene and said something that really caught my attention. I'm ad-libbing a bit, but basically she said "when we see pictures of Everest mountain climbers, they're always at the top. Always with a huge smile on their face. Looks like they're on top of the world". I love that. The "climb" is hard. A lot of people die trying, and never make it to the top. Sometimes it seems like the climb is going to kill us, making our way through this life. But eventually, in all those little situations, and in the grand scheme, we make it to the top. We're bruised, broken and bleeding. But once we're there, once we make it through the climb, it's as if the climb was nothing. Those bruises don't hurt as badly anymore. Joy takes over.

I don't know. Thought it was a cool little bit of wisdom. Thanks Meredith. Now stop having sex with everything that moves.

So today is the last day of our Paramore tour here in the Pacific Rim. I can't believe I've been away from home for a month. It's been such a blessing over the course of my life to go to such places and see such amazing things, cultures, people. But one thing that has been so vibrant to me throughout this tour is how incredible God is. There are an estimated, what, like 6.2 billion people on this planet? I see thousands every day. And my God thinks about me. He has 6.2 billion people to think about, and he thinks about me? A lot of times I think I'm not really worth the time to think about. AND he has way more important things to think about instead of me! But he does!

I really have been going through some ups and downs lately. We are transcending into a time where morals in the Christian life are slowly declining. I see and hear about friends who I've known my entire life entering into dangerous lifestyles and still think that they are living within Christ's permissible commandments. And I always fall back into the words of one of my beloved mentors...

"STAND FAST".

I know we are older now. We outgrow our felt-board Bible stories. We try to think with science and reason. We strive to find happiness in life. And with every year, our minds grow more susceptible to Satan's lies. We try to find out what we can get away with as long as we ask for forgiveness. We reason what Christ "was really saying in that verse" relating to "our times". I'm not quoting anyone, just generalizing. But God's word never changes...and I feel like the most basic truths of Christ we learnt as children still can have some of the most beautiful impacts on our Christian lives than we will ever learn anywhere else. Just think about a world where people didn't lie, where people treated others like they want themselves to be treated. Where people saved themselves for marriage. Where our lives were built around loving others, and not about loving ourselves. We can still do this!!! We just have to stand fast! Don't waver in our God's laws. I'm at a point in my life where I believe what I believe. And I believe I have a pretty firm foundation on what is wright and what is wrong. This doesn't make me a conservative, a liberal, a republican, a democrat. It doesn't make me a label, unless you're a label maker. It just makes me a human being who takes God's word literally. And I will continue to do so, until my Lord comes back.

Wow. Just unloaded. I never write, so when I do...it feels great. I guess what I'm trying to say, is God's word is real. And God is real. And Hell is real. We need to FEAR Hell on a daily basis. I want to do God's will. I want to strive to be like him. I want to live according to the plans He has for me. But I also want to live my life knowing what will happen if I don't. Hell IS real. It's going to be the most terrible, painful, horrible place we could ever, or never imagine. And just thinking about it scares me beyond any horror film. And it should scare you.

LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST. STAND FAST. And we will live the life eternal with our Savior! I can't wait for that day!

So it's amazing here. I didn't really get to go out for too long, this tour really doesn't allow for much free time, but I did get to run around a little bit and snap some atmospheric pics. My favorite so far was the treeline just as we were leaving Finland. It was gorgeous. Sweden seems SO industrial to me, and yet it's blended perfectly with this natural presence. It's probably the trees, grass, and other foliage that's just growing up around these factories. And I hardly messed with the color temperature in these photos as well...I mean it's BLUE here. Of course we ARE in a place where they only get about 4 hours of sunlight a day right now...which is so crazy. Anyways, I'm starting to miss my wife in a major way. I miss little Franklin, TN. The NOEL sign is probably above Starbucks right now, and I hear it's supposed to snow there this week! So Sweden, make me happy, cause I'm getting as blue as you are.

So I'm in FINLAND! The trip over here was unreal. So long. But now I'm here and of course got right out and started taking pictures! So this is Helsinki! I didn't know this but it's actually very flat here. I kind of always thought it was mountainy and snowy! But instead it's actually rainy all year round and FLAT! But it's beautiful here in it's unique way. One of my favorite spots I've seen here so far was this huge rock pile. This place was the foundation of a massive church they were going to build, but in 1939 the war caused them to stop construction, and I guess they never officially got the building started after that, so just the foundation is still standing! And my favorite thing about Finland? Obsessed with Gnomes! They're everywhere! Red hats, beards...I mean incredible. Alright! Tomorrow we're off to Sweden! Check back then for...hopefully some new pics!

I love this man. His name is Billy Jo Clark, AKA Pawpaw. He is my wife's grandfather, and an amazing man of God. He has spent the last 4 years I have known him leaving me in stitches with his incredible humor and crazy antics. And he is a passionate follower of Jesus too. Today he suffered a major stroke that has left him currently in the intensive care unit. Please pray for Pawpaw, that his body and mind will be healed, and that he will come back as the Pawpaw we all know and love.

Well I'm back on the road!!! It's already been so much fun being back...I missed my friends dearly. It's weird. I feel so at home here, and yet I'm not home. There's so much about home I always miss...obviously Erin and my family...but this is always work and fun. It's an amazing thing being a part of it! Oh the 4th with Mawmaw and Pawpaw. Classic. My favorite picture has to be the one below. Just two grumpy old men right after a heated religious argument. Love it. I love my family. They are so amazing and so special to me. I loved the visit to Nunu and Da's as well. I'm so proud of having great family, both on the Chesbro side and the Clark side!!! Enjoy the pics!!!

Mad Hatter Party...Amazing!!!

Ok, now to the main event. We had a plethora of events this weekend, but I think the one to beat was Amy's Mad Hatter party celebrating her wonderful years on this earth! The night started with a lovely little outdoor table filled with amazing Mad Hatter memorabilia...

As the night wore on...we busted out the hookah and smoked like the caterpillar from the classic book (and disney movie!) Miriam also got some candle wax stuck in her ear as you can see in the picture below (on the left). She had an itch in her ear...and a stick of candle wax was the first thing she saw...didn't think too much about it before she shoved it in her ear..and it broke off in there!!! Good thing we got it out!

Then it was into the house we went where we played with crazy googly eyes and opened presents!!!

oh, and met this fine gnome...or goblin...or some little amazing guy.

Well, last night was a big day for the Chesbro family! My cousin Sharon, for whom we've been praying to "meet a Godly man" now for a long long time, has finally found her man! And he popped the question!!! We had an awesome little summer dinner party at my parents house and celebrated the wonderful news. We also got to meet Vann, who is an absolutely amazing guy. I took a lot of pictures...so sorry there are so many...when there's so much beauty in your family...how can you resist? God is truly good, and it's evident in just looking at the joy bursting from everyone in these photos. I love you my incredible family!!!

Well, yesterday was absolutely incredible! Erin and I woke up and started our day with some strawberry picking! Of course we wanted some help, so my favorite Sister in Law Heather and Hayley, Hunter's awesome sister decided to join us and do some mad pickin'.

These were some of the most amazing red strawberries I have ever seen!

So then we decided to go to a awesome little coffee shop to get lunch.

Until we saw the menu...

...then it was on to SONIC.

And what would any amazing day be without a concert? Um...COLDPLAY to be exact!

Heather and Amy's seats were kind of high up....but there really wasn't a bad seat in the house!

Memorial Day Blog Starter

Well the blogging has begun! I have an official blog on my website, but I really want a blog to just showcase life around the Chesbro abode. So here we go...a blog about my beautiful wife, my mindboggling dog, and my amazing, ever growing family! I'm starting with our wonderful memorial day today! It started off with a wonderful waffle leftovers from yesterday, which Erin and I quickly devoured. We wanted to do something different then going to the movies or watching tv, so we spent a few hours at the pool and then headed out fishing!!! I caught a few absolute monsters...

...ok well not really. Then Erin used her incredible cooking creativity to make a fetta stuffed venison burger! And with my grill skillz...it became a culinary masterpiece. Stay tuned to this for many more blogs!
